From one of my best friends comes a little haven called Orphan Songs. Orphan Songs is a solo project developed by the former vocalist of Sweden-based indie rock group Eyedrop. Carl-Otto Johansson is the mastermind behind it all, constantly at work writing lovely delicate tunes for this project. It's only a wonder that the music hasn't been lifted from Sweden and placed into the biggest stage in America.

Formerly the vocalist and song writer of the United Kingdom band Budapest, John Garrison has started a solo project of his own. Not long after the band members of Budapest decided to move on, Garrison found himself in the United States recording new songs for his debut solo project. Garrison specializes on guitars as well as piano, and nearly all of his songs are in acoustic form.

Every member of this band holds a special place in my heart, not only for the beautiful music they write, but for simply being friendly folk in person. They'd rather be grilling out on the highest Rocky mountaintop than rocking the Billboard charts. Though the members of the band have now parted ways, the Grandaddy legacy will continue on in vocalist Jason Lytle's future solo project.

Earlimart had a rusty start in their music-career, which has led to a change in their genre. Originally a punk rock band, Earlimart slowly emerged as a lovely indie rock group, taking listeners through an emotional roller coaster ride.

Sparklehorse? ...Well, they're something else. They'll be playing a lovely soft tune, comforting you to sleep, and then they'll catch you off guard with a steady rock song. Mark Linkous is a brilliant composer and producer and has won the musical hearts of thousands.

Former lead man of the United Kingdom rock group Unbelievable Truth, Andy Yorke writes new songs for his solo self-titled project. Yorke originally expired Unbelievable Truth to pursue a life in Russian politics, but came to realize that it's okay to have two passions in life. So now, with the help of his former band mates, Yorke begins his new creativity... and it's not far off from calling it a third Unbelievbable Truth album.

Through the ashes of the band "Paloalto," emerges the young Golden State. Leadman James Grundler has gone through line-up change after another within his band. Even through all of this instability, Grundler's albums are actually quite graceful, and deserves a spin on the radio every now and again. Hailing from California, Golden State plays catchy guitar songs with meaningful lyrics usually about various situations in life.

One of the greatest altern-rock bands to come out of the United Kingdom today is Long-View. I listen to Long-View regularly as their lush guitars and anthemic tunes keep me going throughout the day. Their debut release, "Mercury," is worth a thousand diamond mines. Expect big things from this band in the coming days.

Coming from the midlands of the United Kingdom, Haven struggles to claim more fans through many regions of the world. However, Haven's leadman has some of the most beautiful vocals in comparison to any band in history. With this and a mix of their upbeat attitude in music proves a hopeful future for the group.
